Before You Go, Show What You Know! {Classroom Exit Ticket Bundle}

I'm linking up with Mrs. D's Corner and Miss V's Busy Bees again today to share this week's Back 2 School Linky topic....ASSESSMENT!

I wrote up this blog post earlier this month and thought I would link it up as it explains a great way to assess your students INFORMALLY and DAILY!

When you think of assessment, I know, for me, one of the first things I think of is a test. A boring test that most kids despise. But I have found that informal assessment can be just as beneficial in learning about your students.

Have you heard of Exit Tickets?!

Exit Tickets are a great way to determine if your students walk away with a solid understanding of what you are teaching! This can be used in a variety of ways: after an introductory lesson, culminating lesson or use daily when your kids leave the classroom. It's their "ticket" out the door. That is what I plan to do. My team and I were trying to think of ways to get more writing in our day and this will be a great addition.

If you have this as part of your daily routine, Exit Tickets could encourage students' reflective thinking and learning since they know they will have to be prepared to write their thoughts at the end of the day.

This Classroom Exit Ticket Bundle includes...

Sign for your door...

12 different question prompts (not all pictured here)

12 corresponding Exit Ticket Response Sheets- just print and copy!
Numbers for your Pockets - just copy on label sheet (1" x 2.63")

Here is how I have it set up in my classroom for next year! Can't wait to use it...

I took 2 poster boards and glued them together. Then I arranged my pockets (bought at the Teacher Store to go with my safari theme classroom) and used rubber cement to glue on. I added some colorful zebra border. I laminated it and used a razor blade to slice open the pockets.

I also glued the sign and question cards on turquoise card stock and laminated as well.

Here is a close up of one of my exit tickets in a pocket. :)

Also, I made the pockets out of my extra pockets and strung it through some left over turquoise ribbon. A mini tutorial on that later...

For now, I better pay attention to my kids, who are actively destroying the house right now while I "work".

If you try this in your classroom, please leave a comment and tell me how it works for you!!
