SCHOOL'S OUT....For Summer!!

So happy to have a little time off with my own babies this summer, but I sure am missing my sweet class!!

I know it may seem that teachers say this often but really, REALLY, this class was something special. Such an incredible group of kids and I am so proud of them. I do plan to post more about our end of year happenings later. Tons to share about our Animal Research PBL (which was FABULOUS!) and a few other fun things! So stay tuned!!

This pic was taken right after learning that our Halle won the all school Hula Hooping Championship! What? Your school doesn't do hula hooping on the last day of school!?!

Oh, and we also had a GAGA Ball Championship. Here is the 2nd grade team right before they played! Go Allie and Owen!

My little darling ready to cheer on her kindergarten friends!

Congrats Owen for winning the K-2 championship game. ;)

My class after the win!!

 Such a fun class!

Saying goodbye to my girls! :(

Earlier in the day, I had presented them with their End of Year Gifts...

Love the way they turned out this year! How did I make these? SIMPLE! Go HERE to read all about how the kids filled out ONE word for everyone in our class. Then I simply made a Wordle and printed it out! Cheap, Dollar store frames and a cute poem added to the back. Done! And they loved it!

To see my blog post on this last year, go HERE! I love how they each turned out a little different! The kids loved that the bigger the word, that meant the more people had put that word down to describe them! Very cool.

Would you like to do this activity with your class next year? It's FREE on TpT! And, oh my goodness, it has been downloaded nearly 6,000 times! WOW!

Get it HERE!

HAPPY SUMMER!!

I decided to give my #1 Top Seller a facelift and I am SO glad I did! Turned out super cute and I just love it even more!

Here is a preview!

Here is a tiny sample of some of the Editable pages!

I added some blank pages where you can enter all of your own info!

Customize student IEP info!

There really is SO much more. :)

Here are a few of the cover pages and calendar pages!

Calendar starts with August 2015 and ends with June 2016. I can certainly edit the calendar if you need it sooner. ;)

LUCKY Acrostic Poem Craftivity- FREE for 48 hours!

Happy March, everyone! While I am at home on this glorious snow day (yes, you read that right. 4ft of SNOW in TEXAS in MARCH?!), I decided to share my Lucky Acrostic Poem craftivity!

This is something I have done with my 2nd graders the past few years. So simple and cute and perfect for a March Bulletin board!

Tonight was supposed to be our OPEN HOUSE but because of the snow, it has been cancelled. My bulletin board is ready though!

To start off the craftivity, we brainstormed reasons we are lucky on this Brainstorming web.

I also made one with lines.

Then we came together as a class and created an anchor chart of ideas for each letter in the word LUCKY.

(didn't get a pic of this but we came up with some great ideas)

I wanted my kids to do more than just one word for their acrostic poem. We went for short phrases and sentences.

Here were a few ideas from our class brainstorming session:

L- Loving family, likable friends, lots of love, lovable pets, leadership skills

U- Understanding parents, unique mind, unique teacher, understanding best friends, usually awesome

C- Caring friends/parents, creative mind, curious mind, compassionate heart, clever actions

K- Kind-hearted, kids in our class, Kind parents/teacher/friends, Keep on trying

Y- Yippee! (or Yea!) I'm lucky to be me!

Once we brainstormed as a class, I had the kids go back to their desks to start their poem. I gave them this sheet...

and these instructions:

I did not want the kids to repeat a topic in their letters. For example, they couldn't put...

    Loving parents
   Unique parents
 etc.

This provided a little more of a challenge but they figured it out and came up with some great poems! Some kids came up with their own topics too. :)

Then we used the templates (provided in the craftivity set!) to make our shamrock, pot o' gold and gold coins!

We added a little glitter glue to make them sparkly!

Sorry for the blurry pic but this one turned out cute. :)

This little craftivity is now up in my TpT store and it's FREE for 48 hours only! So be sure to snag it before midnight on Saturday, March 7th!

Happy (early) St. Patrick's Day!

As for me, I think we might be going out again to play in this beautiful snow (before it melts!!)

Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy!!

March CURRENTLY

Oh my goodness, 2 blog posts in one day?!? This is a rare occurrence for me but I do hope to blog more. Those of you who blog frequently (like at least twice a week) I am envious. How do you do it?? Please share your secrets!

Linking up again with Farley over at Oh Boy 4th Grade for this month's currently. It's 10:20 on March 1st (clearly, past my bedtime) but I am determined to post my March Currently on the first of the month!

LISTENING: Yep, pretty exciting. The 10 o'clock news. We are actually on the weather forecast right now which has been quite interesting for us in Texas lately. So it's going to rain every day this week. High for Tuesday...70 degrees and rainy, High for Wednesday...39 degrees with chance of sleet/snow. You read that right. Gotta love Texas weather!

LOVING: Due to the snowmageddon event we had on Friday,  (closed school early because over 3 inches of snow fell and that's what schools do in Texas when it snows...everything shuts down), the kids' soccer games were cancelled and roads were too slick to drive anywhere. SO, we had no plans except to play in the snow!! Fun times!

This was taken AT SCHOOL before they closed school! Some of my kiddos had already been checked out for the day.

My little man loving the snow

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

THINKING: Open House is THIS Thursday for us and with our 2 snow days last week and early release on Friday....it's gonna be tough to get it all in. We are going to work hard this week for sure!

WANTING: There is something about being cooped up inside that makes me want to eat bad things. And right now, I am wanting chocolate ice cream.

NEEDING:  I really do not NEED to want that chocolate ice cream. So I will resist. Even though I know my Ben & Jerry's Double Chocolate Brownie ice cream may have a few bites left. Nope, not gonna do it. Haven't been active enough this weekend to enjoy that right now. ugh

SPRING BREAK PLANS:  No plans to leave town this year so we will stay home and relax. Really want to finalize a few TpT products I have been tinkering with for awhile now. It is time to wrap it up and upload to my store. Also want to share a few more blog posts to catch up on all the cool things we've been up to lately. I desperately need to go through drawers, closets and cabinets for some good spring cleaning! That's pretty much it! I know the week will go by way too fast!

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

It's your turn! Head on over to Oh Boy 4th Grade to share your own! Be sure to check out the other awesome bloggers too!

Thanks for reading!!
